Fleck 2510 AiQ Air Injection Greensand Plus Iron Filter

The Fleck 2510 AiQ Air Injection Greensand Plus Iron Filter removes up to 7 ppm iron and up to 5 ppm hydrogen sulfide ("rotten egg" odor) from well water, along with manganese. It pairs the Pentair Fleck 2510 AIO valve and new AiQ controller with Greensand Plus media, and it replaces the discontinued 2510 SXT greensand filter.

Air injection does the oxidizing, so there's no chlorine or potassium permanganate to feed. An air pocket at the top of the tank converts dissolved iron and sulfur into particles, and the Greensand Plus bed catches them. A daily backwash flushes the captured iron to drain and draws in fresh air.

How the Fleck 2510 AiQ Greensand Plus Iron Filter Works

Oxidize: Water passes through an air pocket held at the top of the tank. Dissolved iron, manganese and hydrogen sulfide oxidize into solid particles.
Filter: The Greensand Plus bed catalyzes any remaining oxidation and traps the particles.
Backwash: Once a day, the AiQ valve reverses flow to flush captured iron to drain, draws in fresh air, rinses and returns to service.

For hard water, install a water softener after the iron filter.

What does a greensand filter remove?

This air injection greensand filter removes up to 7 ppm iron and up to 5 ppm hydrogen sulfide, the cause of the "rotten egg" smell. It also reduces manganese, arsenic and radium.

Does it need chlorine or potassium permanganate?

No. Air injection handles the oxidation, so there's no chemical feed pump or regenerant to buy.

Greensand Plus vs Katalox Light: which should I choose?

Greensand Plus works from pH 6.2 to 8.5 and holds a lot of iron between backwashes. Katalox Light covers a wider pH range (5.8–10.5), filters to under 3 microns and needs a lower backwash rate. If your water is below pH 6.2, choose Katalox Light.

Is the Fleck 2510 SXT greensand filter discontinued?

Yes. Pentair has discontinued the 2510 SXT. The 2510 AiQ AIO valve replaces it, with a full-color display, USB-C programming and a modular powerhead.

What size do I need?

Use the bathroom count in the size options as a starting point. Then check that your well pump can deliver the backwash rate: about 6.5 GPM for the 10" tanks, 9.4 GPM for the 12x52 and 11.1 GPM for the 13x54.
