Autotrol Logix 255/760 vs. 255/762

Both softeners use the same Autotrol 255 valve body and differ only in the controller. The Logix 760 is a demand (metered) controller: it counts the gallons you use and regenerates only when capacity is nearly exhausted, which saves salt and water. The Logix 762 adds the same metering with a more flexible programming set for households whose usage varies. For most homes on city water the 760 is the right pick; choose the 762 if your installer or well-water conditions call for custom regeneration settings.

Sizing works the same as any softener: hardness in grains per gallon × people × 75 gallons per day gives grains per day, and you want roughly a week between regenerations.
