Fleck 2510 AiQ Backwashing Carbon Filter
The Fleck 2510 AiQ Backwashing Carbon Filter pairs the Pentair Fleck 2510 valve and new AiQ controller with your choice of five premium catalytic or coconut shell carbons. Choose coconut shell carbon for chlorine, taste and odor, or catalytic carbon for chloramine and hydrogen sulfide. It replaces the discontinued Fleck 2510 SXT carbon filter.
Unlike cartridge filters, it cleans itself. The AiQ valve lifts and rinses the carbon bed on schedule, which keeps flow high and gets the full life out of the media.

Rule of thumb: on city water treated with chlorine, a standard coconut shell carbon is enough. If your city uses chloramine, or your well has a sulfur smell, choose a catalytic carbon.

How the Fleck 2510 AiQ Carbon Filter Works
- Filter: Water flows down through the carbon bed, where chlorine, chloramine, organics and odors are adsorbed or catalytically broken down.
- Backwash: On a set schedule, the AiQ valve reverses flow to lift the bed, release trapped particles and prevent channeling.
- Rinse: A fast rinse resettles the bed, then the filter returns to service.

What does the Fleck 2510 AiQ carbon filter remove?
With coconut shell carbon it removes chlorine, taste, odor, color and organic chemicals such as THMs. With catalytic carbon it also removes chloramine and hydrogen sulfide.
What is catalytic carbon, and do I need it?
Catalytic carbon is activated carbon with an enhanced surface that breaks down chloramine and hydrogen sulfide, which standard carbon handles poorly. Choose it if your city uses chloramine, or if your water has a rotten egg smell.
Coconut shell or coal-based carbon?
Coconut shell carbon is harder and has a higher iodine number (900–1,000 mg/g), so it adsorbs well and holds up to backwashing. Centaur's coal-based catalytic carbon is the original chloramine carbon and a proven choice for chloramine and sulfur.
Why a backwashing filter instead of cartridges?
A backwashing filter cleans its own bed, keeps full household flow and only needs new carbon every few years. There are no cartridges to buy or swap.
How often should I replace the carbon?
It depends on water use and chlorine levels. Most homes rebed every 3–5 years. Each carbon is also sold on its own for rebedding.
Do I also need a water softener?
Carbon doesn't remove hardness. For hard water, pair it with a Fleck 2510 AiQ Water Softener.
Is the Fleck 2510 SXT carbon filter discontinued?
Yes. Pentair has discontinued the 2510 SXT. The 2510 AiQ replaces it, with a full-color display, USB-C programming and a modular powerhead.
What's the warranty?
5 years on the Fleck 2510 AiQ valve head and 10 years on the tank.
