Pentair has discontinued the Pelican Water Systems line. The PC600 and PC1000 carbon filters, PAC4 and PAC7 filter-and-softener combos, PUV UV systems and the Pentair salt-based softener are no longer manufactured. The systems below are the current equivalents we sell in their place — whole house carbon filters, softener + carbon combos, softeners and UV built on Clack, Fleck and VIQUA equipment, all with free shipping and no sales tax outside Minnesota. A model-by-model replacement table and what to do if you still own a Pelican are below the products.
Pelican Water Systems was a Florida-based maker of salt-free conditioners, upflow carbon filters and UV systems that Pentair acquired and sold as Pentair Pelican. Pentair has since discontinued the Pelican residential line, so new PC600, PC1000, PAC4, PAC7, PUV-7 and PUV-14 units and the Pentair Water Softener are no longer being produced. We were a Pentair authorized dealer for the line and have retired our Pelican product pages; the old product links now bring you here.
The good news is that nothing Pelican did was proprietary. A Pelican carbon filter is a tank of catalytic carbon with an upflow head; a PAC combo is that tank paired with a metered softener; a PUV is a UV chamber sized by flow. Each has a direct equivalent built on Clack or Fleck control valves (the two most widely serviced valves in the industry) or, for UV, on VIQUA. The table matches each Pelican model to what replaces it.
| Pelican model | What it did | Clack equivalent | Fleck equivalent |
|---|---|---|---|
| PC600 Whole House Carbon Filter | Upflow catalytic carbon for chlorine, chloramine, taste and odor in smaller homes; no electricity or drain | Clack Upflow Carbon Filter — same no-drain upflow design; choose the carbon media for your water | Fleck 2510 SXT Carbon Filtration System — backwashing, longer bed life, needs a drain |
| PC1000 Whole House Carbon Filter | Larger-tank upflow carbon filter for bigger homes | Clack Upflow Carbon Filter in the larger tank size, or the Clack Backwashing Carbon Filter | Fleck 2510 SXT Carbon Filtration System in the larger tank size |
| PAC4 Carbon Filter + Softener Combo | Whole house carbon filter feeding a metered salt softener, smaller homes | Clack WS1 Water Softener and Carbon Filter | Fleck Water Softener and Backwashing Carbon Filter |
| PAC7 Carbon Filter + Softener Combo | Same combo in larger tanks for bigger homes | Clack WS1 Softener + Carbon sized up, or the Connected Series Softener + Carbon Combo with Bluetooth valve | Fleck Softener + Carbon sized up |
| Pentair Water Softener (salt based) | Metered on-demand softener | Clack WS1 Water Softener | Fleck 5600 SXT Water Softener |
| PUV-7 UV System (16 GPM) | Whole house UV disinfection for bacteria and viruses | VIQUA VH410 (18 GPM); VIQUA VH200 (9 GPM) for smaller homes — UV isn't a valve product, so both columns point to VIQUA | |
| PUV-14 UV System (34 GPM) | High-flow whole house UV | VIQUA F4 (36 GPM) | |
| PC600-PUV-7 / PC1000-PUV-14 Filter + UV | Carbon filter with UV downstream | Any Clack carbon filter above + the matching VIQUA unit; the Connected Series combo offers UV as an add-on | Fleck 2510 SXT carbon filter above + the matching VIQUA unit |
Pelican sized its systems by home size; Clack and Fleck systems are sized by tank (and, for softeners, grain capacity) and flow rate. As a rule of thumb, a PC600 or PAC4 home is served by a 10" x 54" carbon tank and a 32,000-grain softener, and a PC1000 or PAC7 home by a 12" or 13" tank and 48,000 grains or more. If you're replacing a UV unit, match or exceed the old flow rating — 16 GPM to the VH410, 34 GPM to the F4. Send us your water test or your old model number and we'll confirm the size for free.
Your Pelican filter or softener keeps working as long as the tank and media are sound; discontinuation only affects new units and factory parts. For an upflow carbon filter, the media can be replaced when it stops removing chlorine (typically 5–10 years depending on model and usage), and a UV chamber needs a new lamp yearly and a sleeve every two years. We no longer list Pelican lamps, sleeves or media for sale online. If you need a part for an existing Pelican unit, call 800-374-2143 with the model number and we'll tell you what we can still source, or whether a rebuild with a Clack or Fleck head on your existing tank is the better path.
